Pointer Cue v1.3.0 is a free Mac menu bar utility for demos, presentations, tutorials, and screen sharing. Show the pointer and clicks, focus the active window, or frame an area without entering a drawing mode. New users can try every Pro feature for 60 days.
Show clicks
A visual spark appears after a completed left click so viewers can follow exactly where an action happened. Dragging does not trigger the click indicator.
Focus the active window
Keep the active top-level window clear while a translucent mask reduces visual distraction across the usable area of that display.
Frame an area — Pro
Choose Command + Drag, Control + Command + Drag, or Option + Command + Drag to frame an important area temporarily. This is included during the 60-day Pro Preview and with Pointer Cue Pro.
Multi-display aware
The active-window highlight affects only the display containing that window. Other displays stay clear for notes, scripts, meeting controls, or other working material.
Follows normal Mac workflows
The active-window highlight follows Command + Tab, window cycling, clicks, Dock, Stage Manager, Mission Control, Finder Quick Look, and app-driven activation.
Free and Pro colors
White and red remain free. Orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, and custom colors are included during the Pro Preview and with Pointer Cue Pro.
Local and non-blocking
The visual overlays do not block normal Mac interaction. Pointer Cue does not require Screen Recording permission or capture your screen content.

Make a Mac demonstration easier to follow
When viewers watch a screen share, they do not always know where the presenter is looking. Pointer Cue adds temporary visual cues to the current interaction rather than requiring a separate drawing or markup mode.
Show where the pointer is
Press and release Command to temporarily display a ring around the pointer. Useful when moving between controls while explaining a screen.
Make clicks visible
The click cue appears after a completed left click, helping viewers connect your explanation with the control that was selected. Dragging does not trigger this indicator.
Focus one window
Use the active-window focus effect to reduce visual distraction on the display containing the current window. Other displays stay clear.
Frame an exact area
Pro's modifier-key drag lets you temporarily frame a region when the important content is only part of a window.
A short product demo sequence
- Turn on the pointer and click cues before sharing your Mac screen.
- Point out an item with a brief Command-key highlight, then click it.
- Use the window focus cue when transitioning into a detailed explanation.
- Frame a particular chart or field with the Pro area cue if needed, then return to normal interaction.

Free and Pointer Cue Pro
Pointer Cue is free to download from the Mac App Store. New users receive the complete Pro feature set for 60 days from their first acquisition.
After the preview, highlighting the pointer, showing clicks, focusing the active window, and the white and red highlight colors remain free. Pointer Cue Pro is a one-time purchase that lets you frame an area, configure its shortcut, and use additional preset and custom colors.
Customers who purchased Pointer Cue before v1.3.0 receive Lifetime Pro at no additional cost.
Windows version
The existing Windows version remains available from Microsoft Store, but active feature development is currently paused. Newer macOS features and the Free / Pro model may not be available on Windows.
System Requirements
macOS 13.5 or later. Designed for both Intel Macs and Apple silicon Macs.
Pointer Cue processes active-app, visible-window position, Command-key, modifier, and mouse-button state locally to display its cues. It does not capture screen content or record, store, transmit, or analyze typed text, passwords, or input history.
